there is a bus moving at 30.2 m/s and the bus must now jump a 50 foot gap in the freeway.if the interchange has a 5° incline how far can the bus travel and still land on the same vertical level after leaves the ramp? will the bus make it the 50 feet?
The bus won’t make it by a long shot if I did the math right. I split the velocity into two components: vertical and horizontal, using trig. I then used a modified height formula to get that 2.63t-4.9t^2 = 0, t = 0.531639, x = 30.08*0.531639 = 16.16 meters before it falls into the ditch. Note that 2.63 = 30.2*sin(5) and 30.08 = 30.2*sin(5). I hope that made some sense!
