Why do you think americans purposefully created a weak national government and lived with its failures for 13 years?

We saw what was wrong with Britain's government. We wanted to avoid problems like the Boston Massacre, "No taxation without representation", and the Boston tea party. By the time we realized the faults it was really difficult getting back on track. This resulted in the great depression.
