Native American cultures were very closely related to their environment and their culture developed around it. Since they were not really connected that well, their cultures developed independently and usually around their environment. That's why southern American Natives have things like volcano gods and similar things in their culture, while the Northern, Canadian Inuits have snow and ice, while the mid ones have animals and forests and things like that.
