A pheromone is a chemical message sent by another individual. There are a number of different pheromone types and their emission can affect the behaviour of other members of the species. Examples include sex pheromones ,that indicate females are ready to breed in some animals, and alarm pheromones that trigger a flight or aggressive response in some animals.
