substitute y into one of the previous equations to find x.

x + 7y = 0
x + 7(-1) = 0
x - 7 = 0
      x = 0 + 7
      x = 7

(-7, -1)

Check.

7 + 7(-1) = 0
7 - 7 = 0

2(7) - 8(-1) = 22
14  + 8 = 22
