From an 8 foot board a carpender sold of one piece that was 2 3/4 feet long and another piece that was 3 1/2 feet long how much of the boards left

Let, the left portion = x

Then, 8 = 2 3/4 + 3 1/2 + x

8 = 11/4 + 7/2 + x

8 = 11+14+4x / 4

32 = 25 + 4x

4x = 32-25

x = 7/4

In short, Your Answer would be: 7/4 feet or 1.75 feet
