A 13-foot piece of string is cut into two pieces so that the longer piece is 4 feet longer than twice the shorter piece. Find the lengths of both pieces.

The answer is 10 and 3
6/2 = 3
6 + 4 = 10
10 + 3
it said one piece was twice the other plus 4.
