                 (16 N directed from the origin 30° above the x-axis)

           =           [ 16 N cos (30) ] in the direction of 'x'

                     + [ 16 N sin (30) ]  in the direction of 'y' .

The y-component of the force is

                         16 N sin (30)

                     =   16N (0.5)

                     =         8 N  .
