The correct answer should be the Weather and Hunger.

The weather was extremely cold compared to what they were used to and they were not prepared for it. With the cold weather also came diseases. Hunger was also a major issue since they didn't know the land and didn't know what grows and what doesn't, and what's edible and what isn't.
