area of trapezoid/trapezium = [tex]\frac{h}{2} *(a+b)[/tex]

h=height

a and b are the parallel sides (top 2.5 and bottom 6 in this pic)

so [tex]\frac{5}{2} *(2.5+6) = \frac{5}{2}*(8.5) = \frac{42.5}{2} = 21.25[/tex]
