If you add or subtract a proton from a atom what does it become !

Removing a proton makes the atom negatively charged, adding a proton would result in a positive ion(called a cation). But addition and removal of protons is not really practical, it is an atomic reaction, Not only does it result in a charge but would change the atomic number and therefore what the element actually is.
