We have exponent x, lets plug in some positive and negative numbers for x and check

Suppose x=-1 then [tex]h(-1)= -8^{-1}= -\frac{1}{8}[/tex]

x=1 then  [tex]h(1)= -8^{1}=-8[/tex]

So for x values the value of h(x) is negative

For all x values , the y value is negative .

Hence range is y<0
