Plants like animals are able to perform the exchange of the gases from their body. The two gases are carbon dioxide and oxygen. Plants give off oxygen when they are doing photosynthesis, i.e, production of food in presence of the sunlight from water and carbon dioxide. Plants give off carbon dioxide in the absence of sunlight when they are performing respiration. In both the cases a gas bubble will be formed, but will have a gas depending on the lighting conditions.
