3(-4x+5)=12 (Divide by 3 on both sides)
-4x+5=4       (Add -5 to both sides)
-4x=-1          (Divide by -4 on both sides)
x=1/4

Check:
3(-4(1/4)+5)=12
3(-1+5)=12
3(4)=12
So, your final answer is x=1/4
