I believe the answer is: the action is fragmented in a seamless manner as Griffith cuts for dramatic emphasis

The dramatic emphasis is being done to highlight the scene that audiences would most likely find exciting or impressive.
This usually followed by actions scene such as running from explosions, jumping from the building, etc.
